Day 19: No weapon formed against me will prosper
Isaiah 54 vs 17
One of our favourite games in Hero Factory is called Mine. The idea of the game is to throw all our ball pool balls (we have many) into the middle of the room and the children in their teams have to collect as many as they can and return them to their corner and the team who has the most wins. One time while leading this game at Hero Factory I said a phrase that still haunts me to this day… “Ok Hero Factory, just throw all the balls on to the stage.”
Cue fifty kids and team proceeding to throw over 300 multi coloured small plastic balls not only at the stage but also at me. I can not tell you the pain you experience when they are thrown at you repeatedly at full force, it hurts a lot!
One thing that always continues to surprise me when it comes to working with children or even having two kids myself is their ability to turn anything into a weapon. Plastic ball pool balls, a doll, a scooter, a cup you name it, it was only last week that I found myself at the end of a remote control to the face from our one year old while Daddy was in charge and I was trying to get some more sleep.
A weapon is anything designed to inflict harm.
In Isaiah 54:17 we read this..
“But no weapon will be able to hurt you; you will have an answer for all who accuse you. I will defend my servants and give them victory.” The Lord has spoken.
I love that this verse gives us so much hope that we can build our life on every day. Now i’m not talking about remote controls or ball pool balls as being the weapons in our life, but as God’s children we have spiritual enemies who will use whatever weapon they can to pull us down and stop us from living the life God has prepared and has in store for us.
Church, whatever the weapons the Devil plans to throw at us, what ever thoughts he plants in our heads, temptation he puts in our paths, whatever he does to deceive us, to discourage us, to stop us and enslave us we can stand firm in Christ knowing that you may be under attack from the Devils weapons but the battle has already been won (John 16:33) and like that verse says I will give them victory.’
This isn’t our battle its God’s, and Church, the battle has already been won.
Today if you feel like you are in the middle of that battle and you see the Devil throwing every weapon your way. Choose to repeat this verse and declare it over your situation and life. A song we use to sing in church is ‘I see a Victory’ by Elevation Worship and one of the lines in the song is ‘The weapon may be formed but it won’t prosper.’ Church today, let’s stand firm in Christ and know that the weapon may be attacking you right now but it won’t succeed.
