Day 11: His love is never ceasing
Lamentations 3:22-23
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”
What a verse to start at the beginning of a new week.
Ezra my little boy is now 1. He is incredible, he is funny, sweet, loving and a little wild which I love. But the thing with Ezra is he doesn’t sleep. Now I know some babies don’t sleep and truth is no matter how hard I find the sleepless nights I am thankful for the extra cuddles as I know it won’t be forever and when he is a teenager he won’t want cuddles in the middle of the night 7 times.
Some nights are so difficult, I can be awake for hours or fall asleep for half an hour and then be awake again. But no matter how hard the nights are the morning always comes and I hear that sweet voice on the monitor chatting and singing, or throwing things out of his cot and saying o-oh. As I walk into his room and I pick him up, he smiles and snuggles in. It’s like the night is a distant memory and with the help of a large coffee I am ready to get on with the day ahead.
No matter how many times Ezra wakes, no matter how difficult the night is or even the days I will always pick him up, I will always hug him and hold him close and nothing will ever change the love I have for my son.
Church, sometimes the nights are long, sometimes the seasons we are in feel never ending, sometimes we find ourselves in a place of shame, hurt, pain, anger, a place where we feel like we have messed up again and we are so mad at ourselves and being honest we are struggling.
God loves us no matter what, no matter what we do, what we say, the season we found ourselves in; how dark our nights may be. God loves us and nothing we do or say will ever separate us from that, his love is never ceasing. It doesn’t stop.
I don’t know what your yesterday looked like, I don’t know what happened in the darkness of the night, but today is a new day and Gods mercies are new. This is a chance to go at it again. Nothing you do will ever separate you from Gods love. So whatever season you are in, no matter how dark your nights feel we have this hope, an unshakable hope, a hope that we can build our day on knowing that no matter what has happened Gods love is never ceasing and like I pick Ezra up and pull him in and hold him tight every morning, despite the night we had. God does the same with us.
Church lets choose today to walk in that love!
