Day 8
Wednesday, January 19th
What does ‘more’ look like?
Ten months ago I felt like something was missing and that life was bumbling along. Nothing bad was happening, but nothing outstanding either. I think that multiple lockdowns did that, but sometimes life can get like that.
I knew there was more to life and more to my walk with God.
At the time I’d just started to read a book entitled Ready Fire Aim by Ps Mark Varughese. A couple of chapters into this book and the chapter “Following God is an Adventure” caught my attention. As I read the chapter about how God had moved in Ps Mark’s life, I felt a stirring as he testified to how the Holy Spirit had spoken to him, led him and ultimately how it transformed his life and took him into the adventure God had for him.
I heard God say “Do you want an adventure?” and without hesitation, I said “Yes Lord, I do”. From that moment God started to speak and lead me, and what an adventure it’d been!
Salvation is incredible, but it doesn’t stop there! He calls each of us into an adventure with Him, an adventure where we get to walk with Him step by step, experiencing more of Him in our every day. Our lives are meant to be exciting, supernatural, fun-filled adventures of discovery. Discovery of who we are, who God is and our destiny! There are God-ordained moments, waiting for you!
Anybody who finds the experience of faith in Christ boring isn’t following him.
Ready Fire Aim
We all know the incredible verse in John 10:10 where Jesus says “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” but I love the way The Passion Translation says it;
A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow! (Emphasis added)
Wow! That’s a promise and we can take hold of that promise and ‘Amen’ it. Say yes to the more, even when we don’t know what it looks like.
Later in John 10:27, Jesus says “My own sheep will hear my voice and I know each one, and they will follow me.”
I’ve learnt that it isn’t complicated to follow Jesus. All it really means is leaning into God, surrendering, listening, walking in obedience where He leads, trusting Him, and finding your confidence in Him.
So do you want to go on an adventure?
If so you can pray this prayer
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank you for calling me by name, for saving me and for the promise of life to the full.
I want to know you more, to hear your voice and follow you on the adventure.
I surrender all I am and I trust you to lead and guide me.
Amen
