Having been a child and now being a parent, it’s strange at times to see both sides of the story.
At several points over the past 8 years of parenting, I remember specific moments where as I child I argued with my parents with, what I believed at the time, was a very strong, reasonable point of view and was bewildered that my parents couldn’t see why I was right!
I’ve now had the very same discussions with my 8 year old from the other side of the argument. Now as a parent I can’t understand why his childlike mind can’t understand my point of view… the the cycle continues.
It’s in these moments where parents often utter the famous words “because I said so” or the classic “that’s my final word”.
Once the final words have been spoken, the case is closed.
No amount of shouting or tantrums can change it; it’s a done deal.
Recently our Children’s Pastor, Colleen, brought us these thoughts in relation to our expectation on God for his miraculous provision.
Only Gods Word is the final word on your situation.
Maybe the miracle you’re asking for is a long standing need.
Perhaps it’s something you’ve prayed for, for a long time, yet have still not seen a breakthrough.
It’s in these times that often we choose to listen to someone elses ‘final word’ other than God’s.
Perhaps it’s the word of a Doctor, bank manager, husband or wife, estate agent. Their words can carry some power, can cause distress, hurt and pain, but they’re not the final word!
In the Message translation it says this:
Proverbs 16:1
Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word!
Who do you let have the final word on your situation?
Have you allowed someone elses ‘word’ to limit your faith in a limitless God?
The Bible tells us that “Nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37) Only He can have the final word on your situation!
Don’t listen to anyone else’s opinion above God’s.
Only God has the final word!
