Scattered: Day 20
So here we are!
Day 20 and final of this series of Daily Devotions!
We have loved going on this ‘Scattered’ journey as a Church, over the month of September. Today as the series finishes, it is truly just the beginning of our action as individuals. If you’ve missed any of this series, then I want to encourage you to go and seek it out!
Every message is now available as a podcast, the final video message is on YouTube and all 20 of our Daily Devotions can be found through our mobile App.
Today as we finish this series, let’s take a moment to reflect on what God has been saying to you. The emphasis of this Scattered series was not about us as a corporate church, but to each of us as individual followers of Christ. That as we each shine the light of Christ in our world, as we reflect the love of Jesus to our community, when we are each scattered with a purpose through our daily lives… we will see the advancement of God’s kingdom!
This is the calling on every Christian. To be saints that are sent into our world, to make a difference for the kingdom of God. The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is filled with incredible equipping and empowerment. Throughout his letter he gives insight and encouragement regarding our identity in Christ and key instructions for Christian living. Early in his letter Paul shares something of his heart for the Church. That each of them would get a God vision for their lives.
Ephesians 1:17-18
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you.
This is our prayer for each person in every location of Influence Church:
That we would receive the Spirit of wisdom and Revelation
-So that we operate through the authority of the Holy Spirit, not our own ability.
That we would each know God better.
-So that we go to new depths in our discipleship journey.
That the eyes of our heart may be enlightened
-So that we can get a God-vision for how we live out each day.
That we may know the hope to which he has called you.
-So that each of us could be be filled with the confidence that God has called us and empowered us to make a difference for his kingdom, through our lives.
Each of us has been called and commissioned by Christ, to go into our world and share the Good News! Let’s be a Church of scattered saints!
Prayer
Lord help me today to embrace my calling.
To be empowered by your Spirit to make a difference.
Forgive me for the times I’ve lacked confidence or courage.
I acknowledge that I am not alone, but that you go with me into this day.
Help me to make the most of every opportunity.
I want to be your light, in my world!
In Jesus name I ask, Amen.
