On Sunday in Kids Church in all locations we officially started our Movie Madness: Finding Dory series. We had a great day in Kids Church where we went under the sea in our games, craft and preach. The leaders had fun and so did all the kids and this is what we learn.
Don’t forget that you can download the app to stay up to date with all the things happening in Hero Factory and Church.

On Sunday we watched the opening scenes of Finding Dory where we meet Dory when she was little. Dory is with her family and her parents are caring for her, its obvious that Dory has problems remembering things and he parents are trying to teach her to look after herself. Without realising Dory loses them and you see her growing up at she is searching for them.
Dory has lost her parents and is spending all of her time and days searching for them. After we watched this clip we talked about a story in the bible which was similar. In Luke 15 we read the story of the Lost Sheep. The shepherd had 100 sheep and he loses 1, he doesn’t give up on the one he goes searching for it and when he finds it he rejoices and has a huge party. This is what it is like for God when we are distant from him. When we are lost doing our own thing he searches for us, like the shepherd searching for the sheep and Dory searching for her parents. Now at the beginning of the film we don’t know yet if she does find her parents (although I think we can all assume she does) but we do know Dory is doing any thing she can to find them, she is searching and looking for them.
We wanted the children to know and understand that when we are away from God he looks for us. He searches everywhere for us. He misses us and cares for us and needs us with him.
Sunday Big Answer is He looks for me
Tea Time Talk
So here are some questions to ask your children to carry on the conversation at home.
- Have you ever lost anything? How did you feel?
- How do you think Dory felt losing her parents?
- Find a bible and read Luke ch 15 vs 1 – 7 together.
If you were the shepherd and you had 99 sheep would you still go looking for the lost one? - How do you feel knowing that God looks for us when we are separated from him?
- Can you remember the Big Answer from HF on Sunday? He looks for me!
- Pray with each other. See if you child has anything they want to pray for.
Next Week
This Sunday coming we will be watching the next part of Finding Dory and talking about what we should do when we are sad or scared. Its going to be a great one. See you on Sunday.
