Sunday just gone was the launch of our new series ‘Movie Maddness’ in Richmond and ‘Joseph’ in Barnard Castle.
In Richmond over the next 5 weeks we will be watching clips from the film UP and then learning from them, to see the clip we watched on Sunday click on here. We were talking to the children about the adventures we want to go on and the things we want to achieve in our life and how we would feel if we didn’t achieve them. This is what happens in the clip we watched from UP. Carl and Ellie made plans to go to Paradise Falls and live there but life got in the way and it never happened, in the video clip we see them getting older and older and the dream gets further and further away. At the end of the clip Ellie dies, Carl is sad that he didn’t keep his promise and take her on her adventure but she writes in her adventure book this. ‘Thank you for the adventure, now go make another one. Love Ellie’
You see all though they didn’t have the adventure that they wanted from the age of 5 it doesn’t mean that the life they had was not an adventure. Sometimes we make all these plans in our head of what we want to do and where we want to go but God decides the steps we take and the things we do. We talked to the children a lot about how God has amazing plans for us and how sometimes just because things don’t turn out how we want it doesn’t mean it is not how God wants it to be and ultimately he knows what is best for us.
In Barnard Castle we started by looking at our 1st P of Joseph which is Pit. We talked about how Joseph was this miracle baby and his dad loved him so much that he gave him this amazing coat, much to the annoyance of his brothers. We talked a lot about jealousy and if we ever feel jealous of other people, for the things they have, the life they have, the toys they have and the clothes that they way.
We went on to talk about what Jealousy can make us do and how sometimes when we are jealous we can say and do nasty things but God says we need to be kind to everyone. We carried on the story to see the brothers throw Joseph in the pit. The children all got involved and were set a challenge to be kind to someone this week even when we don’t always want to be.
It was a great day in Hero Factory in both locations. Parents I really encourage you to be chatting to your kids through the week about what they have been learning in Hero Factory.
Any questions let me know.
