Day 23: John 20
He has Risen!
The chapter we’ve all been waiting for! Jesus has Risen! Hallelujah! This is Good News indeed!
There is so much I could pick out of this chapter, so I encourage you to read it for yourself and ask God to highlight what He wants you to take in. My thoughts for today are aimed more at those of you who are new to Christ but it’s a great reminder to us all.
The resurrection is key to the Christian faith, but have you ever stopped to think what it really means. Here’s some thoughts as to why it is key:
Jesus rose from the dead, just as He said He would! It shows He was not an impostor or false prophet! He came through on His word. Therefore we can be confident that He will accomplish anything else He has promised! Each promise in the Bible is a gift from God to each of us and He will come through on His promises. Promises like ‘He will never leave us or forsake us’ and ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’ I don’t know about you but that brings me such hope and security, especially in uncertain times, I can hold onto the truth that God has it all in control.
As Christians we can live knowing that death is no longer the end, but only the beginning of eternity spent with God in heaven, through Jesus resurrection. For me this brings hope, strength and confidence in a loving almighty God.
The divine power that brought Jesus back to life is now available to us! If we truly get that, if we understand that same power lives in us, it will bring such transformation to our lives and especially to the way we pray. If that power can bring Jesus back from the dead than imagine what miracles and healings we could see if we only ask!
The resurrection is the basis for the Church’s witness to the world! Let’s not keep this Good News to ourselves but share our own experiences of life with Jesus. He died so all could be forgiven for their sin and experience God’s love. He died so that all could come into relationship with God. He died so that everyone could experience life in all it’s fullness.
Who are you sharing this Good News with at the moment? If you can’t think of anyone then I encourage you to think and pray about who you can share with. Ask God for an opportunity to share your story. This news is too good to keep to ourselves. Jesus didn’t just die for some, He died for the whole of mankind.
Today, I encourage you to thank God for the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus, to stand in faith and truly believe that God is in control and through His power working in our lives we can see the impossible made possible, and pray today that God would give you an opportunity to share your story.
