Meet Paige…

March 14th, 2012 by Colleen Wind

Here at Influence Church we have an incredible kids team and Paige our Pais Apprentice from Canada is a HUGE part of that.

We love Paige and the kids adore her so much, her famous stage shows have become the talk of  Hero Factory and she has brought so much fun and creativty to us as a team. I love Paiges excitment when we have planning meetings and she comes knowing that anything is possible!

This is what she has to say about Hero Factoy and Kids Ministry.

I joined the kid’s team at Influence Church just over a year ago. And if I’m honest, I wasn’t 100% thrilled about it when I started. I was a little bit scared of what it would entail, and up until that point most of my experiences with mass quantities of children were not great experiences! But now, over a year later, I wouldn’t trade a minute of it! There have definitely been crazy times; I’ve broken up fights, wiped away tears, told kids to stop messing around. But I’ve also cried with laughter, passed kids on the street excitedly telling their parents about kids club, dressed up in crazy costumes and seen God transform these young lives! It’s been such an incredible experience. It’s been fun sitting around in our planning meetings where anything goes, where no idea is too big or too crazy. My whole outlook on Kid’s Ministry has been changed, and I just love being a part of shaping this younger generation for His Kingdom.

If you have never met Paige or had chance to talk to her, you should and maybe if your nice, she will cook you a true Canadian thanksgiving dinner!

Sum Up 11/03/12

March 12th, 2012 by Colleen Wind

What an incredible day in church. Hero Factory yesterday was AWESOME. Our very own Lloyd Matthews brought a great message to the kids sharing his love for the bible and his favourite story in there. He finished by challenging your kids to get stuck into the bible and to find their favourite stories.

In Hero Factory we always want to make sure that your kids are kept on their toes so we like to mix things up occasionally and that is what we did yesterday. We introduced our very own Info Point where the children can get free magazines, fliers, colouring sheets and daily bible reading notes. We also introduced a new running order and added a few other surprises. It’s an exciting time to be in Hero Factory.

We have spent lots of time over the last couple of weeks encouraging your child to read the bible and to get stuck into it and learning about the incredible things Jesus did. Why not spend some time with your child this week sharing with them your favourite story and helping them find it in the bible.

This is what we have taught them so far.
– Always find the contents page first.
– Find the book and the number next to it.
– Look for the number at the top of the pages.
– Once you have found the book all you need to remind them is BIG numbers are chapters, LITTLE numbers are verses and they should be sorted!

Also don’t forget that your child needs their bible every week.

Have a great week.
Colleen.

The last month!

March 7th, 2012 by Colleen Wind

The last few weeks for Hero Factory have been so busy.

In the last month we have finished our ‘How He Loves’ theme and moved onto a 4 week programme where we are teaching your children how to read the Bible. We have had a day of bag packing to raise money for Hero Factory and Elevate where we raised £500. At the end of last month we have our Vision Night at The Hub in BarnardCastle in preparation for our launch in May. As well as all that, Kids Club returned with our brand new BOYS vs GIRLS theme which is going so well.

It is such an exciting time for your children to be apart of Hero Factory with so much going on that they can get stuck into and be apart of.

Every week we have…

Hero Factory Kids Club this happens every Tuesday night, 6pm – 7.15pm and it cost £1 for entry and 25p for Tuck. We are currently in the middle of our BOYS vs GIRLS theme where lets just say, the competition is heating up. I mean who will win, the boys or the girls?

Hero Factory Kids Church is every Sunday. This takes place during our main event that starts at 11 am. The children will get to chance to connect with others spend time having fun and learning more about God in a creative and fun place. Parents don’t forget your children need their bibles every week and we also take up an offering for our compassion child Balfor.

In Psalm 92 vs. 13 it says this ‘planted in the house of the Lord they will flourish in the courts of our God.’

Church is a great place to be. A place that your children and your family need to be planted in, because like what this bible verse says those who are planted in church will flourish.

There is so much going on for you and your children to get planted and stuck into so make sure you check out our website for more information of upcoming events or head to the info point on Sunday where someone will be there to help you.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Colleen

Sum Up – 05/02/12

February 6th, 2012 by Colleen Wind

Series: How God loves
Bible story: Luke 19 vs 1 – 10
Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 13 vs. 4 ‘Love is…’

We launched this mini series by talking to the children about what they think love is. Needless to say we were met with lots of comical answers including my dog, chocolates, cuddles and girlfriends (with one boy telling us he no longer has any girlfriends because they were too stressful). So parents take note on that.

We talked lots about what the bible says love is and what 1 Corinthians 13 says. We went onto talk to the children about how we are here to love everyone, even the people, who annoy us, upset us and especially the people we don’t like. It was amazing to hear the children talk about how this is something that they find really difficult to do.

The bible story we focused on was that of Zacchaeus the tax collector and how he was hated by so many people because his job was to take money of the people to give to the Romans. But out of everyone Jesus chose to go to his house for tea. The children talked lots about why Jesus did this in their connect groups.

All of the children in Hero Factory were challenged at the end of the morning to love everyone, even the people that they don’t like. They went home with a 1p to remind them of the story of Zacchaeus and to love everyone and that God is with us and will help us we just need to ask.

Parents:
Why not spend sometime this week chatting to your children about what we were talking about or read the story of Zacchaeus again. Also make sure you check out your kids connect group sheets for more information about what they were talking and thinking about with their connect group leader.

Hello Parents!

January 31st, 2012 by Colleen Wind

Hero Factory is what we call the children’s department here at Influence Church. Our vision is to raise up a generation of children who LOVE, LAUGH and LIVE amazing lives.

The idea of this blog is to help you as parents to stay better connected with all that is happening in Hero Factory at the moment. It will be full of information to help better inform & equip you as parents as we partner with you in trying to raise up heroic Christian children! I realise that most weeks when you ask them what you were talking about in Hero Factory you are probably greeted with either a ‘nothing’ or ‘I don’t know’ answer but with this blog you can now know what really is happening!

Every Sunday and Tuesday we have two jammed packed programmes full of so many things to help encourage your children to live a life full of love and laughter but we know there is only so much we can do in an hour and a half. Every week on Mondays we will be posting photos, activities plus information on what we were doing so you can continue the conversations that were started at church. If you miss a weekend at Influence Church you and your kids can now find out what they missed out on right here. The rest of the week we will be posting personal stories, information about upcoming events and some sneeky peeks of things coming up in the future of Influence Church and Hero Factory.

We consider it an honor that every week you trust your most prized possessions into our care and this is something that we do not take lightly. Its an exciting time to be apart of Influence Church and with so much going on we want to make sure that you know everything you need to know about Hero Factory.

So at some point in your week, grab yourself a cup of tea and make sure that you have checked in to find out what is happening.

For more information press the ‘Home’ button at the top and it will take you back to our website.
